Aretha Franklin, a transformation piece.

Henry Schmid-James. Freshman. Film and Visual Storytelling

My classmates Kisho Berry, Aubrey Roberts, Maya Ortiz and myself created the short film, Gone, for a class project in Production I. It’s about a student waking up at BSA, realizing he’s all alone and can’t escape the building.

This portrait explores the theme of “villain” Expressing yourself as a villain is quite difficult, but for me, my concept for this chalk pastel drawing was more along the lines of an “Oh.. What have I done!?” viewpoint. It’s from the point of view of someone who did something bad that turned them into the villain of a story they wanted no part in.

Zoey Aleong. Senior. Visual Artist

A Surrealism Drawing: This is a piece that I completed just for fun. It started out as something unintentional but it became its own thing.

A beautifully painted sky, with cold winds and falling leaves. The sun departs to take its rest.

Crystal Gonzalez. Senior. Visual Arts

My piece is about me and I’m journey through depression, there always ups and down and sometimes it feel like I have two different heads thinking positive and negative.

Dymin Veney. Sophomore. Film and Visual Storytelling

My poem is about how our generation see society through sorrowful eyes.

This piece was my first ever work using both charcoal and oil pastel together. With my box, my cast, and my paper, I set it up so that the light hit both the cast and the piece of paper. The paper would add a color to the the natural shadow emitted by the light casting above making it a more interesting piece to draw. I’m very proud of this piece that I made. (P.S I don’t do art at school, just outside of it, I’m at the school for music, I play the violin!)

We have a sketchbook and mindfulness class with Ms. De La Brown and it’s a free range class. You are able to create anything special whether it be on paper, a digital creation, or simply something you would like to share like a collection. I wasn’t able to show my finished colored version in class, but I was able to show the sketch and process. I made this one for Halloween and SPOOKY SEASON! While I’m able to do charcoal portraits and ink paintings, doodling like this is one of my signature styles that i really enjoy. I post all my finished work on my art Instagram @_thelittlespacecadet_ Y’all should follow me✌🏼

The title is called Passed on Suffering. It tells an explanation of the conflicts that break and subdue African American people into this threshold of sorrow, misconception, and pain. It also shows the realization that a black persons death in society is just a mere after thought for some people.
