We are excited to continue highlighting our new faculty members here at the Baltimore School for the Arts with our new teacher profiles. For our February edition, we are showcasing new teachers in the Film & Visual Storytelling department, Mx. Emilia Cieslak, Leopoldo Rojas, and Katiana Weems.
Emilia Cieslak (she/they)

What subject do you teach?
“I teach Animation 1 as well as Studio Production for Freshmen Film students.”
What has surprised you about teaching at BSA?
“I was very surprised by how organic the teaching style is here and how willing the students are to be creative with projects! Every time they go above and beyond with their assignments.”
What is a fun fact about yourself that you would like students to know?
“One fun fact about myself is I run a small business on the side of personalized merch.”

Katiana Weems (she/her)

What subject do you teach?
“Production I, Adv Editing II, TWIGS Visual Storytelling Audition Prep.”
What has surprised you about teaching at BSA?
“The fact that I still get lost in the building. I walk all the way down to the first floor to use the bathroom because I’m afraid I’ll get lost if I go to a different one.”
What is a fun fact about yourself that you would like students to know?
“‘She is very creative’ – my father.”
